11-04-30 Kaneohe Bay Sunrise

13 people got up early this Saturday morning to view & photograph the sun rising from Kaneohe Bay.  It was a bit shaky considering the heavy showers with thunder and lightning on Friday, but it turned out to be well worth the effort.

This is the same spot Ceylon and I shot on the 15th of this month.

Before I go to the sunrise pictures I took I want to show you a visitor to my yard.

These are the sunrise pictures.

That white spot, centered in the gap in the clouds just right of the top center, is the moon.

I wasn't sure that we would see the sunrise on the horizon, so imagine my surprise...

That's Henry stalking the boat.

If you look closely, you'll see Sterling trying to get a macro shot.

11-04-23 Kamehame Ridge Sunrise

Stay up last night so I wouldn't miss the sunrise from Kamehame Ridge.  I left my house at 4am to get to Minh's house by 4:30 so we would be at the meeting place by 5.  I had figured it would take us about 45 minutes of steady walking to get to the hang glider launch pad...thank you Tim.  He has the key to the gate and allowed us a drive up rather than a hike.  We took 3 cars with everyone piled in and got to the launch pad in less that 10 minutes.

The sunrise proved to be mediocre at best..too many clouds on the horizon.  But we had fun nevertheless.  The turnout surprised me with 17 people showing up.

I'm not sure why the colors in this shot are so different from all the rest.  I didn't do anything different so it should have been the same.

"Saving Grace" Everlast

This is another TV show that I enjoyed.

Saving Grace
Everlast

One time around the block
two times around the clock
three times don't cross the little lady

So pretty and oh so bold
got a heart full of gold on a lonely road
she said "I don't even think that God can save me"

(Am I) gaining ground
(Am I) losing face
(Am I) lost and found by Saving Grace
Thankful for the gift my Angel's gave me

Born alone
We die alone
nuttin' but sittin' here by the phone
waitin for the Lord to send my callin'

Street wise from the boulevard
Jesus only knows that she tries too hard
She's only tryin' to keep the sky from fallin'

Any man says it's Heaven and Hell
Prob'ly got somethin' useless to sell
You ask me if I'm saved but what's it to ya?

Blow a quarter
cop another eight
you're runnin' out of hide you're losin' your faith
Throw your hands up and scream halleluiah
halleluiah halleluiah halleluiah halleluiah Amen

One time around the sun
another year older and my work ain't done
it's time for me to write the final chapter

Deal the cards and roll the dice
sex drugs and rock'n roll are my only vice
tryin' to figure out just what's here after

halleluiah halleluiah halleluiah halleluiah halleluiah halleluiah Amen

"(What if God Was) One of Us"? Joan Osborne

Joan of Arcadia was a TV series that I really enjoyed.  I was sorry to see it canceled.

I enjoyed the theme song by Joan Osborne and play this clip every so often just to remember.

"(What if God was) One of Us?"
Joan Osborne

If God had a name,
what would it be
And would you call it to his face
If you were faced with him in all his glory
What would you ask if you had just one question
And yeah yeah God is great yeah yeah God is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home

If God had a face
what would it look like
And would you want to see
If seeing meant that you would have to believe
In things like heaven and in jesus and the saints and all the prophets
And yeah yeah God is great yeah yeah God is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home
He's trying to make his way home
Back up to heaven all alone
Nobody calling on the phone
Except for the pope maybe in Rome

And yeah yeah God is great yeah yeah God is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home
Just trying to make his way home
Like a holy rolling stone
Back up to heaven all alone
Just trying to make his way home

"My Back Pages" Bob Dylan's 30th Annual

My all time favorite Byrds tune...written by Bob Dylan.  In this case performed by Roger McGuinn, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan & George Harrison

My Back Pages
Written by Bob Dylan
Performed by: Roger Mcguinn, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, & George Harrison

Crimson flames tied through my years
Throwing high and mighty tracks
Countless fire on flaming roads
Using ideas as my maps
"We'll meet on edges, soon," said I
Proud 'neath heated brow.

Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

Half-wracked prejudice leaped forth
"Rip down all hate," I screamed
Lies that life is black and white
Spoke from my skull I dreamed
Romantic flights of musketeers
  Foundation deep, somehow.

Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

Girls' faces formed the forward path
From phony jealousy
To memorizing politics
Of ancient history
Flung down by corpse evangelists
Unthought of, though, somehow.

Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

Self-ordained professor's tongue
Too serious to fool
Spouted out that liberty
Is just equality in school
"Equality," I spoke the word
As if a wedding vow.

Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand
At the mongrel dogs who teach
During night I'd become my enemy
In the instant that I preach
My sisters fled by confusion boats
Mutiny from stern to bow.

Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

My guard stood hard when abstract threats
Too noble to neglect
Deceived me into thinking
I had something to protect
Good and bad, I define these terms
Quite clear, no doubt, somehow.

Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

"I'm Going Back" The Byrds

A good song to reflect to:

I'm Goin' Back
The Byrds
Goeff-King

I think I'm going back
to the things I learned so well in my youth
I think I'm returnin' to
Those days when I was young enough
to know the truth

Now there are no games
to only pass the time

No more electric trains,
no more trees to climb

But thinking young & growin' older
is no sin

And I can play the game of life
again

I can recall the time

When I wasn't ashamed
to reach out to a friend

Now I think I've got

A lot more
than just my toys to lend

Now there's more to do
than watch my sailboat glide
And everyday can be
a magic carpet ride

A little bit of courage
is all we lack

So catch me if you can
I'm going back

La la la la la la la la la laaaaa
La la la la la la la la la laaaaa

 Now there's more to do
 than watch my sailboat glide
And everyday can be
a magic carpet ride

A little bit of courage
is all we lack

So catch me if you can
I'm going back

11-04-18 Kawaikui Beach Park Full Moon

Eyes of Hawaii held it's monthly full moon shoot this evening at Kawaikui Beach Park on Moanaloa Bay.  I didn't expect as good a moon as we got last evening at Makapu'u because tonights moon would be rising well after twilight.  I was wrong...a huge orange ball rose up over Koko Head making for a great photo opportunity.
