2013-07-16 Ahipuu Street, Chinatown & Magic Island at Ala Moana Beach Park

Proved to be a pretty busy day.  Started off with me fooling around with some patriotic roses my mother had.

Then we went to visit to my mom's friend at Nuuanu Hale, a senior care home.  While my mom visited her friend I wandered down Ahipuu Street and took some more pictures of the home that is scheduled to be demolished.

2013-07-14 Pony Tail Flower with Honey Bees

When my parents first moved here in 1973 my mother bought a Pony Tail plant in a small container.  It never moved from the container till Christmas Day 1995 when we moved into our present home in Pearl City.  The Pony Tail was moved from the container and planted in the mauka front corner of our yard.  Since then it has steadily grown and this past July finally bloomed.

The blossoms lasted for about 2 weeks during which time they attracted a multitude of honey bees and some carpenter bees and a smattering of wasps.

While my mother was visiting with her friend, I spent some time taking pictures of this older home.  The owner is planning on tearing the building down so I thought it would be nice to get some pictures before hand.

After visiting my mother's friend, we walked around Chinatown.  For me it's always interesting in that there are so many things to take photograph.

13-01-21 Liliuokulani Botanical Gardens Lance & LynnAnne

Lance emailed me earlier this week.  He asked if I would like to assist him with a model shoot at the Liliuokulani Botanical Gardens.  Naturally I said yes.

LynnAnne was the model and she was very patient with us.

13-01-13 Kaiaka Bay Beach Park Lance & Argee

Lance invited me to assist him with a models photo shoot at Kaiaka Bay Beach Park in Haleiwa.  I wasn't quite sure where the park was so we initially met up at Matsumoto's Shave Ice Stand in Haleiwa town.

As you can see, they are still as popular as ever.

Lance also brought his friend Dennis so I really ended up with little to do other than watch, learn and sneak in a few shots.

Argee, the model, is a delight to work with.  She has the kind of personality and smile that just lights up a room when she walks in.

I think she's amused at Lance's attempt to be nonchalant. 

This green dress was loose, so we had to use a clip, in back, to bring the waist in. 

She has a wonderful smile.

It was very overcast, wet and chilly.  She was quite the trooper and never complained.
