12-11-11 IWSSB Keawa'ula Beach / Yokohama Beach Sunset & Milky Way

At the last minute we took a run up to Yokohama Beach for the sunset and another attempt at photographing the Milky Way.  I still wasn't very successful in my Milky Way shots but I got 2 pictures of the sunset that I liked.

This pool fascinated me it's like the Halona Blow Hole in that there's an underwater opening that allows the water to surge up exit in a fountain.

12-11-10 OPMUG Kaneohe Bay Sunrise

OMUG returned to Kaneohe Bay this morning for a sunrise shoot.  In planning this everything that could go wrong went wrong.  I misread where the sun would be rising so we got no sunrise to speak of.  The tide was still coming up when we arrived so there was very little beach for us to work with.  It was windy so the ocean was choppy...what can I say.  Yet we still managed to have a pretty good time and get some decent shots.

When I arrived a little before 6am this is all the beach we had to work with and the tide was still coming up.

This just looked better as a black & white.  The wind moved the boat during my exposure so they are slightly out of focus.

This shot was pretty badly overexposed but I found I liked what I had after reducing the exposure and darkening the shot overall.  I pushed the saturation and vibrancy way up and am actually pleased with the results.

The color was washed out in many of my shots so I once again pushed up the saturation and vibrancy in hopes of getting a better looking picture.

The way the light from the rising sun reflected off the clouds and the water was pretty cool.

It is always amazing to me that any group of photographers will always be looking in different directions.

The sun finally beginning to come up from behind the hill.

12-11-09 Alien Log Beach Sunset

Got a message from Brandon asking if I wanted to shoot this evening and if so where.  We choose Nimitz Beach now renamed as Alien Log Beach as the place to shoot the sunset.  When I arrived Brandon was already there shooting from the west side of the groin.  We hooked up and he showed me another place a little further east of where we normally shoot from.

12-11-04 OPMUG Aiea Bay State Recreational Area

Got together with OPMUG members this evening for a sunset shoot from the Aiea Bay State Recreational Area aka Pearl Harbor.  This is the same place Brandon and I shot from on Friday evening.  Once again the VOG made for a beautiful sunset.

Got some rays as the sun got lower on the horizon.

This and the next three shots are me just playing around.

12-11-03 IWSSB Haleiwa Town Walk-a-bout

Today was special in that I got a chance to see people I had not taken pictures with in quite some time.  A very special thanks to Tien for organizing this fun shoot out at Haleiwa.

The premise was very simple...you could shoot only one lens and it could not be a variable zoom lens.  Fixed focal point only.  Your legs become the zoom and you have to walk closer of further away to frame and compose the shots to your liking.

It's not Sunday

I was told that on the Big Island (Hawaii) it's known as ice shave.  Matsumoto's was made famous by the first surf film I can remember watching..."Endless Summer."

This business is painted bright red on the front and no paint on the back portion.
