Andy, through his photography, is very closely connected to the fire twirling community in Sacramento. Two of the people, he knew there, moved to Hawaii giving him the opportunity to meet and hopefully begin relations with the local Hawaiian community of fire twirlers. As a result we were invited by Andy to photography the twirlers as they practiced this evening at kaka'ako Waterfront Park.
I had a very difficult time with focus and as a result all of my shots came out slightly out of focus. Part of this was due to the relative dark that the twirlers seem to prefer. It also did not help that I tried this without an external flash so my shutter speeds were slower resulting in longer exposure times...and people couldn't stay still.
