2012-09-15 OPMUG Eternity Beach Sunset Light Playing

This past Saturday evening there was no moon so OPMUG headed off to Eternity Beach to get some shots of the sunset, Milky Way shots and to do some light playing. 

The sunset was color only because we were in a cove behind a mountain so couldn't even see the sun.  The sky was clear and I though we were going to get fantastic shots of the Milky Way...then mother nature conspired against us.  The clouds began rolling in.

So as soon as it was dark enough we began playing with lights.

I think someone stepped in front of my camera while it was still exposing.

12-09-08 OPMUG Diamond Head Beach Sunset

OPMUG visited Diamond Head Beach for a sunset photo session.  The day started out rainy and dreary in Pearl City with the weather beginning to clear from around noon.  I took a chance and didn't cancel the meetup in the hopes the better weather would hold up for the sunset. 

When we first arrived the sunset looked to be iffy at best.  There was a lot of cloud cover on the horizon and none of the higher wispy clouds that help to bring out the colors.

Not sure why but I got quite a bit of noise in this.

12-09-01 OPMUG Okinawan Uchinanchu Festival Kapiolani Park

This is the second year I visited the Okinawan Uchinanchu Festival with fellow photographers from OPMUG. 

There was a really interesting Bonsai exhibit.  The plants on display were beautiful.

It looks like a tilt shift effect but in actuality it's a Bonsai forest.

Shave Ice is always a favorite.

This was an unusual type of Hibiscus.

I like visiting the Queen Kapiolani Hibiscus and Rose Garden whenever I'm at Kapiolani Park.  For an event.

12-08-31 EOH Hilton Hawaiian Village Sunset & Fireworks Display

EOH had it's monthly sunset shoot at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.  Afterwards we stuck around and took pictures of the fireworks display as well.

The way these umbrellas lined up was fascinating to me.  I didn't get the exposure correct but I like the high key effect.

Long exposures are always fun because anything that moves and stops or begins moving while the shutter is open becomes a "ghost."

The "Blue Moon" rises.

Sad to say this was the only shot I liked of my fireworks images.  We were much too close and a 35mm with an APC sensor just aren't wide enough.

Had a hard time deciding if I wanted color or b&w for this.
